Family event set to showcase county’s culture and heritage This autumn, West Northamptonshire Council, alongside Northamptonshire Council and Discover Northamptonshire, will host the county’s first-ever flagship cultural event to celebrate Northamptonshire Day on 25 October. Taking place in the newly renovated Market Square, the event will showcase the county’s rich heritage, vibrant local talent, stunning countryside, and thriving businesses through family-friendly activities and celebrations. Leaders from both councils and Discover Northamptonshire highlight the event as a moment to foster community pride, highlight local strengths, and position Northamptonshire as a must-visit destination. The celebrations run from 1pm to 7:30pm, marking a year since the Market Square regeneration.

Northampton Museum & Art Gallery’s new exhibition takes you on a journey through 150 million years of local history. From fossils to everyday items, A History of Northamptonshire in 100 Objects is open now until 8 February 2026. Don’t miss this unique glimpse into the county’s heritage.

Join a ghost hunt around the mysterious rooms of Delapré Abbey to find all the hidden ghouls. Along the way explore and learn about the history of the Abbey. No pre booking is required for this trail. Just book your general admission tickets and then pay for a trail sheet on arrival. At the end of the trail you’ll receive a gift! On Sundays enjoy free entry to explore the house when you book a Sunday roast!
The event runs on Wednesdays, Thursday and Sundays from Wednesday 2 to Thursday 31 October, at a cost of £1.50 per child.

Saturday 18th October – Diwali – Celebrate 25 Years of Northampton’s Diwali Winter Festival of Lights!
This year marks the 25th anniversary of the Diwali Winter Festival of Lights in Northampton, a vibrant celebration organised by the Indian Hindu Welfare Organisation and supported by local partners. Taking place on Saturday 25th October in the Market Square, the festival features cultural food, community stalls, live entertainment, henna, crafts, saree dressing, and the magical lantern parade with giant puppets – including Harminder the elephant! With a special theme marking 350 years since the Great Fire of Northampton, everyone is encouraged to wear bright, fire-inspired colours. Festivities begin at 10am, with the parade lighting up the town at 6pm.

Saturday 25th October – All Saints Church Flore – De Parys Sextet The De Parys Sextet will perform an evening of beautiful string music by Borodin, Brahms, and Mozart at All Saints Church, Flore. Featuring some of the region’s finest orchestral musicians, the ensemble brings their celebrated talent to the village following their debut at the Bella Ciao festival. Audiences can expect a rich, intimate concert showcasing the depth and elegance of the string repertoire.

18th October to 2nd November – Halloween Spooktacular – Evenley Wood Gardens
This Halloween season, Evenley Wood Garden invites you on a spooky adventure from 18th October to 2nd November. Armed with a torch and a trail map, explore ghostly paths, uncover eerie myths, and collect sweet treats along the way. Enjoy extended evening openings on 25th, 26th October and 1st, 2nd November, and don’t miss magical storytelling in the Witches’ Coven each weekend. Come in costume and enter the fancy dress competition for a chance to win a family season ticket! Plus, younger visitors can get creative with pumpkin carving. A spooky, fun-filled experience for all ages!
