With one month to go, the nation is urged to prepare for the second Emergency Alerts test.  Millions of mobile devices will vibrate and make a siren sound for around 10 seconds at approximately 1500 on Sunday 7 September 2025.  The national test of the Emergency Alerts system was announced last month, alongside a new Resilience Action Plan to improve the way the government prepares for and responds to emergencies.  The message, which will be sent to all 4G and 5G phone networks in the UK, will make clear that this is a test and no further action is required.  Here is some text that you could copy and paste to your social media pages: “Emergency Alert Test – Sunday 7 September at 3pm.  The UK government will be conducting a national test of the Emergency Alerts system on Sunday 7 September at 3pm. Mobile phones on 4G and 5G networks will emit a loud siren-like sound and vibrate for up to 10 seconds. A message will appear on screens confirming this is just a test – no action is needed.  This system is designed to warn people of life-threatening emergencies like severe weather or public safety threats. Regular testing ensures it works properly when needed.   Learn more: https://www.gov.uk/alerts  Prepare for emergencies: https://www.gov.uk/prepare.  Please help spread the word, especially to those who may be vulnerable or startled by the alert.”
